Isla de Timple: alma sonora - Historia y futuro del timple / Maridaje

Santa Brígida, next stop on September 11 and 12: Isla de Timple: alma sonora of Gran Canaria, an itinerant project led by Germán López that is visiting the island municipalities with concerts, encounters and educational activities around the most representative instrument of Canarian music. The initiative aims to value the timple both from its traditional aspect and its contemporary evolution, under an exceptional guide: the timplist Germán López, one of the figures in the instrument’s international projection thanks to his interpretive excellence and his ability to fuse different musical genres. Program: On September 11 at 19:00, the Biblioteca Municipal hosts the meeting Historia y futuro del timple, a space for dialogue about the evolution, challenges and possibilities of the instrument, with Germán López and David Díaz in collaboration with la Asociación Canaria del Timple. As the program’s closing, on September 12 at 20:00, the Centro Cultural de la Villa will be the stage for the concert Maridaje, a show led by timplists from different generations who will establish a musical dialogue between tradition and modernity, accompanied at the piano by Augusto Báez. Participants: Germán López, Augusto Báez, David Díaz and Ana Falcón. Collaboration with the Concejalía de Cultura of the Ayuntamiento de Santa Brígida, in line with strategic lines promoted by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria for the promotion of culture and insular identity.
