About this event

Dates: Tuesday, 14 and Thursday, 16 April 2026. Time: 17:00 hours. Venue: Auditorium of the Centro Cultural del casco, behind City Hall. Admission: Free. Project description: This program arises from the need to inform and educate the residents of Canarias about the different hazards associated with the volcanic phenomenon; one of the fundamental activities in emergency plans for volcanic risk and one of the actions that the Basic Directive for Civil Protection Planning against Volcanic Risk in Spain considers necessary for the development of the Special Civil Protection and Emergency Response Plan for Volcanic Risk in Canarias (PEVOLCA). At the same time, and through this program, the public also learns what actions society as a whole – administrators and administrated – must materialize to contribute to reducing volcanic risk. Therefore, the ultimate goal of this educational program is to contribute to Canarias becoming a better organized and informed community in facing volcanic risk and to become much less vulnerable than a community that does not know or ignores the volcanic threats surrounding it, and does not organize to respond to them.

For the development of the educational program “Canarias, una ventana volcánica en el Atlántico” there is also collaboration from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables (ITER), the , the and the 88 municipalities of Canarias.

Organizer: Instituto Volcanológico de Canarias. Collaborates: Ayuntamiento de El Sauzal, among others.

Location: Centro Cultural del casco Calle Manuel Nepomuceno, No. 12 El Sauzal, Santa Cruz de Tenerife 38360 Spain
