Synopsis: Teatro Tamaska presents a new staging of Yerma, by Federico García Lorca, following its collaboration with Theater in Kempten on Bodas de sangre. The project offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the play, respecting the original text and exploring its relevance through a multidisciplinary, accessible and innovative theatrical language. The project tackles universal themes such as the desire for motherhood, social oppression, gender roles, individual freedom, and the conflict between tradition and identity, issues that remain highly relevant in today’s society. The goal is not only to mount and premiere the production but to create an experience of critical reflection and dialogue with the audience. The project also adds a social and educational dimension, aiming to bring theater and cultural heritage closer to diverse audiences, especially young people and groups at risk of social exclusion, through parallel activities such as talks, workshops and meetings in educational centers. Ultimately, the proposal seeks to reaffirm Lorca’s poetic and symbolic richness and demonstrate the contemporary relevance of the human and social conflicts present in Yerma.
