Festival of the Hearts of Saint Bartholomew

Mon 24 Aug
Plaza de la Iglesia, Tejina, Tejina

Tejina celebrates the Festival of the Hearts of Saint Bartholomew throughout the month of August, with the main day of celebration falling on the 24th of August. The village’s three areas—El Pico, Calle Arriba and Calle Abajo—spend weeks handcrafting enormous structures decorated with bread, fruit, flowers and sweets, which can reach heights of up to 12 metres. The arrival of the Hearts in the church square, on the Sunday before the 24th of August, is the highlight of a festival that has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and recognised with the CICOP International Award.
