“Day of Traditions” in Chirche
We are now approaching a date highly anticipated by the residents of Chirche, a town that enjoy the celebration of the Day of Traditions with special keenness. Thanks to the involvement of the residents, this celebration can carry out and enjoyed by hundreds of visitors each year, who share with us this meeting with culture and traditional wisdom, all in a magic and wishful atmosphere, moving for a few hours to the life of our town in the first half of the 20th century. The effort that we make over the previous months with all the preparations and carrying out of the activity, is rewarded by several signs of support that we receive every edition, by the people who live the experience and help to its survival over time, reporting this celebration to the “Chircheros”, the recovery of our values, traditions and cultural heritage. We invite both people who have already enjoyed the Day of Traditions in last years, and people who do not know the celebration, to visit us and share an unforgettable day.

Festival of the Hearts of Saint Bartholomew
Tejina celebrates the Festival of the Hearts of Saint Bartholomew throughout the month of August, with the main day of celebration falling on the 24th of August. The village’s three areas—El Pico, Calle Arriba and Calle Abajo—spend weeks handcrafting enormous structures decorated with bread, fruit, flowers and sweets, which can reach heights of up to 12 metres. The arrival of the Hearts in the church square, on the Sunday before the 24th of August, is the highlight of a festival that has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and recognised with the CICOP International Award. The programme includes more than 50 events: an opening speech, pilgrimages, street parties, fireworks, the procession and the Festival of the Little Hearts on the last weekend of August.

Jornadas de convivencia y bienestar canino
El Ayuntamiento tiene el placer de invitar a la ciudadanía a participar de forma gratuita en las Jornadas de Convivencia y Bienestar Canino, una iniciativa dirigida a promover la tenencia responsable, el bienestar animal y la convivencia entre personas y perros mediante actividades formativas y lúdicas.
Durante las jornadas se desarrollarán las siguientes actividades:
- Intervenciones asistidas con perros en centros de mayores.
- Taller de educación y obediencia básica, orientado a mejorar la comunicación y el vínculo entre las personas y sus mascotas.
- Taller «Paseos sin estrés», con pautas para disfrutar de paseos tranquilos y seguros.
- Gymkana canina familiar, una actividad recreativa para compartir en familia junto a los perros.

Festival Internacional La Orotava Cittaslow 2026
La Villa se prepara para acoger una nueva edición del Festival Internacional La Orotava Cittaslow, una cita que invita a respirar, sentir y saborear la filosofía del cuidado, la calma y la calidad de vida. En esta segunda edición, La Orotava vivirá un momento destacado con el hermanamiento oficial con el municipio de Bubión, en Granada, en el que será el primer encuentro oficial entre municipios de la red nacional Cittaslow. El programa incluirá diferentes actividades vinculadas al turismo sostenible, la educación, la gastronomía, el producto local y la cultura. El 25 de septiembre, con motivo del Día Internacional del Turismo, la Plaza de la Constitución será el escenario principal de los actos oficiales de la Villa para celebrar una forma de viajar más consciente, sostenible y conectada con las raíces del territorio. Además, el alumnado de La Orotava participará en talleres gastronómicos impartidos por CanBio Comunidad Slow Food, centrados en el valor de la alimentación y la filosofía slow. También se hará entrega del distintivo Cittaslow a los nuevos establecimientos de la Villa que se incorporan a esta red comprometida con la calidad de vida. La programación contará, asimismo, con la Feria Km0 “Las Ventitas”, un espacio dedicado a productores locales, artesanía y sabores de la tierra. La música también tendrá un papel destacado con las actuaciones de a.f. Oroval, Nicotine Swing y Somos Caracoles.
