Obra El sorteo de Casina
About this event
A play by Noite Bohemia Company as part of the amateur theatre exchange plan. A classic farce full of greed, jealousy, and plenty of humor. The story is set in the house of Lisídamo, an old lecher and greedy man who has fallen madly for Casina, a young orphan girl raised as a maid in his own home. But Lisídamo is not the only one who longs for her: his own son, Eftinico, is also deeply in love with the young woman. To get his way without raising direct suspicion, Lisídamo hatches a plan: marry Casina to his trusted overseer, Olímpico, with the condition that he give up his “conjugal rights” on the wedding night. But Lisídamo’s cunning wife, Cleóstrata, discovers the ploy and retaliates by proposing to marry the girl to Calíno, her son’s servant. Unable to reach an agreement, the decision is left to chance by a wild draw of lots. What the old lecher doesn’t suspect is that the women in the house have prepared an epic revenge. Between disguises, dark comical mix-ups, false identities, and a hilariously fast pace, the old man’s plan becomes a genuine nightmare full of absurd situations.
