SYNOPSIS: Maribel y la extraña familia is one of the most emblematic works of Mihura's theatre, one of the representatives of the renewal of contemporary humor that characterizes the Spanish comedy of the mid-20th century. Mihura was a screenwriter among other films of Bienvenido Míster Marshall, cartoonist and humorist, author of Tres sombreros de copa, an iconic work of post-war Spanish theatre and of a group of very successful titles.

Mihura's humor, fabulously represented in this piece of misunderstandings, is enjoyed as much in the dialogues, loaded with double meaning and irony, as in the situations of confusion, through which the characters and also the audience move without exactly knowing what reality is.

This family that warmly welcomes Maribel, will it hide something unconfessable? What lies behind the extravagant family and its “extraña” kindness? Is it reality or appearance? And regarding this plot so magnificently constructed, is it a situation comedy, a mystery thriller or a romantic comedy?

The Auditorio Francisco Álvarez Abrante, in La Orotava, will host the show “Noches con Cristito y la madre canaria” on May 9 at 21:00 hours. The humorist Cristito will come to the town with a performance full of humor and everyday situations, accompanied by one of his best-known characters, la madre canaria. A promise of a night of laughter and entertainment for the audience. The event will take place at the Auditorio Francisco Álvarez Abrante and tickets are available through the platform TomaTicket.es.

The celebration of Semana Santa en La Laguna is one of the Archipelago's most traditional religious and cultural manifestations. Across several days, visitors have the opportunity to appreciate the rich and varied religious heritage the City possesses. During Semana Santa, processions formed by pasos of incalculable historical and artistic value take place, which together with the cofradías traverse the most emblematic streets in a display of authentic popular fervor. These pasos are examples of the imaginería and orfebrería that developed in the Islands and beyond over the last five centuries. Special significance attaches to the acts celebrated on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. On Maundy Thursday, it is worth noting the opening of the chapels of the temples in order to show the Eucharistic monuments, true jewels of island goldsmithing. Good Friday is notable for the Procesión Magna, which takes place at five in the afternoon, and comprises the set of pasos and cofradías that traverse the City starting from the Santa Iglesia Catedral. Likewise, at twenty-two hours the Procesión del Silencio is held, which brings together the penitential brotherhoods and cofradías accompanying the Dead Lord, also from the Santa Iglesia Catedral to the church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, amid the attendees' deep reverence.
