The motivation behind this competition is to promote and boost small and medium-sized commerce through dissemination, encouragement and knowledge of Canary Island popular culture and Canarian traditions in the municipality of El Sauzal.

The Casa de la Cultura “Carlos Alonso” in El Rosario, in La Esperanza, hosts the third edition of Jornadas de Arte, opening its exhibition space to the neighborhood residents of the Municipality who make up the Taller de Dibujo y Pintura of the Universidad Popular de El Rosario, coordinated by its professor Elia Estévez, a graduate in Fine Arts from the Universidad de La Laguna. Thus, on Monday, April 6, from 7:00 p.m., it will host the exhibition “El Rosario,” which can be visited until April 30, while on Monday, May 4 through May 28 the collection “Canarias” will remain on display. Both exhibitions can be visited from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Through this initiative the student body of the courses “Dibujo y Pintura” can be encouraged since they can show part of their work to the public. It is worth noting that, unlike previous editions, this year the students themselves chose the themes of the exhibitions. Each student proposed different ideas, which were later put to a vote, resulting in the selections “El Rosario” and “Canarias.” Through the works on display, each artist has interpreted the themes of each exhibition from their own perspective, bringing their personal style and sensitivity, which will yield two exhibitions rich and diverse.

Semana del Libro 2026 outlines a cultural journey that connects literature, heritage and territory, inviting citizens to view their surroundings from a new perspective: the perspective of words. Activities open to the public:

• April 21: Biblioteca «La ciudad se escribe» with Eduardo Zalba. An experience that brings together heritage and writing, in which the spaces of the historic center are transformed into inspiration for literary creation.
• April 24: Biblioteca «La literatura canaria y sus mitos» with Carlos Brito Pérez. An informative tour through the great myths that have shaped the archipelago's cultural imagination.
• April 25: Castillo San Felipe. A lyric-musical concert with Domingo el Colorao and Ayla Rodríguez. Poetry, music and orality in a unique heritage site. Free activities with prior registration. Join us for the XV Suelta de Libros – Día del Libro, an activity promoted by the Ayuntamiento de El Sauzal to share books donated by various public spaces in the municipality (parks, squares, viewpoints, the coast, etc.). Date: 23 April 2026. Time: in the morning. Location: throughout the municipality. The Ayuntamiento de El Sauzal, through the Concejalía de Cultura, is hosting this edition of the Suelta de Libros with the aim of donating novels and short stories so that they circulate again among pedestrians. A poetic homage to the popular puppeteer. From the discovery of Pedro Vidal's diary, a young artist reconstructs his story and, behind his mask, brings his memories to life through the device of “theater within the theater”. The original “Teatro de la Bicicleta”, by the old puppeteer, proposes shifts in perspective for the deconstruction of the puppeteer's craft.
