The Department of Commerce of the Ilustre Ayuntamiento de El Sauzal announces the II Concurso «Rincón Canario». The motivation behind this competition is to promote and boost small and medium-sized commerce through dissemination, encouragement and knowledge of Canary Island popular culture and Canarian traditions in the municipality of El Sauzal.

The Casa de la Cultura “Carlos Alonso” in El Rosario, in La Esperanza, hosts the third edition of Jornadas de Arte, opening its exhibition space to the neighborhood residents of the Municipality who make up the Taller de Dibujo y Pintura of the Universidad Popular de El Rosario, coordinated by its professor Elia Estévez, a graduate in Fine Arts from the Universidad de La Laguna. Thus, on Monday, April 6, from 7:00 p.m., it will host the exhibition “El Rosario,” which can be visited until April 30, while on Monday, May 4 through May 28 the collection “Canarias” will remain on display. Both exhibitions can be visited from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Through this initiative the student body of the courses “Dibujo y Pintura” can be encouraged since they can show part of their work to the public. It is worth noting that, unlike previous editions, this year the students themselves chose the themes of the exhibitions. Each student proposed different ideas, which were later put to a vote, resulting in the selections “El Rosario” and “Canarias.” Through the works on display, each artist has interpreted the themes of each exhibition from their own perspective, bringing their personal style and sensitivity, which will yield two exhibitions rich and diverse.

Painting exhibition by Hossein Ghavaedy is an exhibition at Sala de Exposiciones, El Sauzal (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). Dates: 16 April – 3 May 2026. Admission: Free.

• Thursday, April 30:

  • 9:00 PM Drag Queen show, featuring the municipality’s choreographic groups. Directed by: David Hernández. Presented by: Yasmina Hernández.
  • Next, in the neighbourhood square: Dance accompanied by Maikel Jiménez and Grupo Origen.

• Friday, May 1:

  • 11:00–13:00 Children’s Day celebration for all ages, with inflatable castles, foam party, mini fair, torito, face painting and balloon workshop.
  • 7:00 PM Children’s Festival. Performs and presents: Ana Ascanio. Participants: children’s characters, magic show and dance by the municipality’s choreographic groups.
  • 9:00 PM Large paella for all attendees.
  • Next, in the neighborhood square: Dance accompanied by Fuera de Carta, Primera Marcha and Grupo Swing Latino.

• Saturday, May 2:

  • Traditional wreathing of crosses on the eve of their feast day.
  • 2:00 PM Rosemary walk from the El Calvario alley to the neighbourhood square: Rosemary walk with different parrandas; broadcast live by Radio Rumberos (90.6 FM).
  • Next, around the neighbourhood plaza area: Gathering of participating carts to enjoy their ambient music.
  • 8:00 PM Street festival featuring Dani García, the Acapulco orchestra and the group Los Ideales.

• Sunday, May 3 – Feast of the Santa Cruz:

  • 10:00–13:00 Inflatable castles in the Plaza de El Calvario.
  • 10:00–13:00 Exhibition of classic cars and rally cars in the surroundings.
  • 7:30 PM Descent of the Arch.
  • 8:00 PM Celebration of the Eucharist. Subsequently, Procession of the Virgen de la Piedad along the usual route. Accompanied by Agrupación Musical San Pedro. At the end, Fireworks display.

• Canary Islands Day programming preview (Saturday, May 30):

  • 8:30 PM Canary Party in the Plaza de El Calvario.
  • Then, Dancing.
  • Notes: Prior reservation by phone; price per person (seat) will be €0.50. To access the enclosed area, wearing Canarian traditional clothing is required. Limited seats.
