The Ayuntamiento de Arucas organizes the forty-seventh edition of the day “Ayuntamientos Democráticos.” This established initiative aims to foster reflection and create a space for dialogue to strengthen participatory democracy at the local level.

This year, the main speaker will be the mayor of Mogán, Onalia Bueno García. In her presentation, under the title “Mogán, Transforming Municipality” she will address housing challenges and tourism taxation.

The event will take place on Wednesday, 8 April, at 18:00 hours, at the Centro Municipal de Cultura in Arucas.

The play "Tacones prohibidos" at the Nuevo Teatro Viejo de Arucas, performed by Lili Quintana. It is a staging with acting and music that presents five distinct female portraits and offers the audience an emotional journey of approximately sixty minutes. Through texts and songs, the play presents stories starring women that reflect realities, emotions and diverse experiences; an unconventional monologue configured as a parade of female characters facing various experiences and their ability to chart their own path.

An interpreted guided route in Arinaga (municipality of Agüimes, Gran Canaria). Next Saturday, April 18, we invite you to explore the charming fishing village of Arinaga through an interpretation route full of history, scenery, and tradition. We will walk along the promenade for more than 4 km, with stops at emblematic spaces such as Muelle Viejo, el faro de Arinaga, and the old lime kilns to learn about the area's mining past. La Concejalía de Educación of the Ayuntamiento de Teror begins on 20 April the sign language training workshop dedicated to the ‘Sordoceguera’, which will run until 11 May 2026, in 7 sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 16:00 to 19:00 hours. The free course is integrated into the project ‘ENTRESIGNOS II’, funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through the Consejería de Educación y Juventud. Synopsis: It tells the story of a Canary Islands nurse who arrives in El Aaiún in 1970 to work temporarily at the local hospital. But her life changes when she falls in love with a young Sahrawi man linked to the Frente Polisario and committed to the struggle for the independence of Sáhara Occidental. In 1991, at the refugee camps, she receives a visit from a journalism student interested in documenting the conflict. Through their conversation, she relives her passage through a territory marked by uncertainty, resistance and loss.
