Summer Campaign – The Municipal Sports Society (SMD) launches once again its Summer Campaign 2025, aimed at facilitating family balance during school holidays, while offering children an enriching, active, and fun experience. The campus will run from June 22 to August 28 at the Complejo Municipal de Deportes and its annexed facilities, with a full program of sports activities such as swimming, karate, and paddle, as well as cooking, games, and camping. Typical schedule: 9:00 to 14:00, Monday to Friday. Pre-campaign pickup services (7:15 to 9:00) and post-campaign (14:00 to 16:00) available.

The Escuela de Música Banda de Santa Brígida has announced the opening of enrollment for the upcoming academic year 2026-2027. This cultural and educational program aims to foster love for music in the municipality, offering residents the opportunity to learn from scratch or improve skills across a wide variety of musical instruments. The activities will take place at Camino al Tejar, s/n (near CEIP Lola Massieu, La Angostura). The Arucas Town Hall promotes, with the support of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, an inclusive camp for students of the enclave classrooms in the municipality.

The Municipal Club for the Elderly of Santa Brígida organizes for the coming days from Wednesday the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of July a camp at Valle Verde Cabins in Fontanales, municipality of Moya, a three-day stay in a rural setting, where various activities will be carried out: hiking, crafts, games and leisure activities. Within the monographic lecture cycle of the workshop “Cuidados y Autocuidados,” the upcoming Wednesdays on July 1, 8 and 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Centro Municipal de Cultura (Biblioteca), the lecture cycle titled “Bienestar para quienes cuidan: mente, emoción y movimiento” will be presented. Admission is free until capacity is reached.

Oral storytelling at la Biblioplaya returns this summer with a cultural program designed to enjoy reading, creativity, and leisure in a unique sea-side setting. During July and August, the Caseta del Muelle will host different events for all audiences, becoming a gathering space to share and experience culture. This time we will have the participation of storyteller Gara Selena, who will offer a session full of stories, imagination, and fun for the whole family.

Concierto de Sephardica. The evening, free of charge, will take place on July 3, 2026 from 20:00 to 21:00 at the Centro Cultural de la Villa de Santa Brígida. The program offers a journey through Sephardic, Andalusian, Renaissance music and traditional romance, performed with historical instruments. The ensemble is formed by Emilio Villalba, Sara Marina, Irene Arévalo and Patry Cruz. The concert is part of the Batalla del Batán program designed by the Culture Department of the Santa Brígida City Council.

The neighborhood of La Atalaya de Santa Brígida will dress up in celebration next July to mark one of its most ingrained cultural and identity events: the XXXIII Traída del Barro, which will begin next Monday, July 6, and run until Saturday, July 12, the day on which it will culminate with the long-awaited “embarrada” and the traditional public shower.

The Ayuntamiento de Santa Brígida, through the Department of Culture led by Avelina Fernández Manrique de Lara, invites the public to a literary meeting with the writer Manel Loureiro, where he will present his new novel Antes de que todo cambie (Editorial Planeta). We will explore the limits of human longevity, the causes and natural meaning of death from scientific and philosophical perspectives. We will also learn about the teachings of different religions on the afterlife and what science has been able to investigate through Near-Death Experiences (NDE). We will address ideas of final judgment, paradise and hell, as well as various conceptions of the continuity of existence: resurrection, reincarnation, transmigration or samsara. Finally, we will reflect on the philosophical, spiritual, and human tools that can help us face the end of life consciously, peacefully, and with dignity.
