The event offers a space for the sale of the best products from our land every Sunday in Plaza de Santiago and its surroundings, always on Sundays. The hours are from 9:00 to 13:30 and it will bring together local producers. During the morning, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of kilometer-zero products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, artisanal breads and cheeses, honeys, wines and other local produce, with the familiar taste and the quality of our people. In addition, the Market will feature musical performances to brighten the day. It forms part of the insular program of Mercados Agrícolas, Ganadero and of the Consejería de Sector Primario, Soberanía Alimentaria y Seguridad Hídrica del Cabildo de Gran Canaria.

"Más allá del Pasillo" is Iván Torres's most personal stage project, the singer-songwriter of the renowned Canary Islands band Efecto Pasillo, a formation with which he has written some of the biggest hits of national pop of the last decade. After years at the helm of one of the most beloved groups on the Spanish music scene, Iván takes a step into a more intimate territory to show the audience what is not always perceived from the big stages. The show's own title stems from that need: to go beyond the 'pasillo' that gave him his artistic name and national reach to delve into the universe of the creator and the person behind the artist. Far from the festive and luminous character usually associated with Efecto Pasillo, this proposal explores a more introspective, vulnerable and thoughtful dimension. Poncia in the midst of a storm of fog, Poncia, the maid of Bernarda Alba, prays for the death of Adela. The house has sunk into a sea of silence. Poncia speaks to herself and also with Bernarda Alba and her daughters. This is the rendering of a text written from the interventions of the character of Poncia in the work of Federico García Lorca. Through a deep analysis of the character, she rescues her interventions and turns them into reflection, soliloquies, dialogues with ghosts and shadows. We hear the voice of the maid to illuminate the dark corners of Lorca's work. Poncia speaks of suicide, freedom, guilt, class, education and sex. And she speaks with all the strength of a voice that has been abused and silenced. The soul of «la Poncia» opens to insist on the need to transfer to others the idea of loving each other in freedom.
Ruta por los Lugares de la Memoria Traumática
The Association for Historical Memory of Arucas (AMHA), in collaboration with the City Council of Arucas, organizes a Route through the Places of Traumatic Memory, an initiative that aims to bring our recent history and democratic memory closer to the public, especially to the younger population. The tour, which will last approximately one hour, will pass through various streets of the historic center, such as León y Castillo, Francisco Gourié and Calvo Sotelo. Along the way there will be stops at spaces and buildings of particular historical significance, including the Town Halls, the old Falange premises, the old Workers’ Federation, and the headquarters of the Female Section, among others. This initiative seeks not only to recover and disseminate the memory of those who suffered repression after the 1936 coup, but also to highlight our historical, architectural and cultural heritage, inviting a view of Arucas’s everyday spaces from a historical and critical perspective. The event will be held on Friday, November 20, at 5:00 PM, with departure from Plaza de la Constitución in Arucas. Participation is free with prior registration via the email juventud@arucas.org. Both entities invite the public to participate in this proposal of knowledge, memory and collective reflection.

XV CARRERA TOLERANCIA CERO
The Equality Policies Office for Opportunities between Women and Men organizes, once again, the popular race under the motto “Tolerance Zero,” on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
The sports event will be held on November 21 at 09:00, returning in this edition to Plaza de la Constitución in Arucas. It keeps the age-appropriate children’s routes as well as the adult route, offering a comfortable and safe circuit that aims to cause as little disruption to traffic as possible.
Those who wish to participate must register free on the website www.arucascarreratoleranciacero.org, from September 28 to October 5, to ensure each participant has the correct T-shirt size for the commemorative race shirt.

From October 23 to November 8, Arucas celebrates a new edition of Divina Muerte, a cultural project that brings together tradition, memory, music and spectacle around the different ways of remembering and honoring those who are no longer with us.

Arucas, violeta con propuestas orientadas a la sensibilización y prevención contra la violencia
A programme of activities in Arucas featuring talks, workshops, and artistic and sporting events to commemorate 25N and promote the prevention of gender-based violence and equality. It includes the XV Carrera Tolerancia Cero contra la Violencia de Género on 21 November and activities on 25 November in the Plaza de la Constitución, starting at 10:00, with the reading of the Institutional Manifesto at 12:00. Free transport from Arucas is also available, departing at 18:00, to attend the demonstration in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
TALLER DE SOMBRERERÍA ARTESANAL EN FIELTRO
The Club of seniors offers an artisanal felt hat making workshop led by artisan Lesley Boohncke, starting Wednesday, October 14. This course provides a hands-on approach to artisanal felt hat making, guiding each participant from loose fiber to a finished hat. We will work with merino wool, starting directly from the fiber. In the first phase, a felt capeline will be handmade, forming the textile base of the hat. In the second phase, each piece is blocked on traditional hat blocks using steam, tension, and manual shaping. Finally, each hat is completed by caring for seams, edges, ribbons, and finishes. Felt is one of the oldest known textile techniques. Unlike other fabrics, it does not require a loom: through water, soap, friction, and movement, wool fibers intertwine to form a sturdy, warm, and moldable fabric. Traditional millinery combines this textile knowledge with the blocking craft, using wooden hat blocks, steam, and specific tools to transform the capeline into a finished hat. Today this craft has almost disappeared in Gran Canaria. Lesley Bohncke is the island’s only craftswoman with the official FEDAC craft certificate in millinery, making this course also a chance to transmit and keep alive a rarely seen artisanal knowledge. Lesley Bohncke is a textile artist, craftswoman and milliner specializing in wool and felt. She works at transforming wool through artisanal methods, with special emphasis on Gran Canaria’s local wool, blending research, artistic creation, and the transmission of crafts. She has extensive experience teaching felt and millinery courses for institutions, municipalities, and Canary and European organizations, and leads projects like LanaLAB, focused on researching and promoting local wool and its contemporary possibilities.
