The Procession of the Blessed Christ of Paso Alto on the 2nd of October in El Toscal is one of the main events of the town's festival in honour of Christ. The procession sets off from the Cross of San Agustín, at Casa Pisaca, and winds its way along Santiago and San Isidro streets to the Almeyda Museum, where the traditional Canarian Mass is held. A day that combines devotion, heritage, music and the folk traditions of the El Toscal neighbourhood.

The project also adds a social and educational dimension, aiming to bring theater and cultural heritage closer to diverse audiences, especially young people and groups at risk of social exclusion, through parallel activities such as talks, workshops and meetings in educational centers. Ultimately, the proposal seeks to reaffirm Lorca’s poetic and symbolic richness and demonstrate the contemporary relevance of the human and social conflicts present in Yerma. A historic date with international comedy in Los Realejos! Having a living legend of contemporary theatre and circus like Peter Shub in our municipality is a unique cultural opportunity. Not every day can the audience enjoy up close a Monte Carlo Silver Clown, a Cirque du Soleil star and undisputed master of gestural humor. His presence makes Los Realejos the epicenter of physical comedy at an international level with a show, Stand up and fall down, promising laughter for all ages. A first-class event that no one should miss! Born in Philadelphia in 1957, Peter Shub has built an outstanding international career as an actor and independent director, collaborating with institutions and artists of reference such as RTL Samstag Nacht Comedy, the Cologne School of Comedy, or the Philadelphia Opera Company. He shared the stage with Roman Polanski in Amadeus and won the Jury Prize at the Cannes International Theatre Festival for his comedy solo Nice Night for an Evening. His work has reached audiences worldwide through TV programs like Just For Laughs in Montreal, and has been recognized by some of the most prestigious circuses on the planet, such as Roncalli in Germany, Big Apple Circus in New York, or Cirque du Soleil in Canada, which offered him long-term contracts. Awarded the Silver Clown Award from the Monte Carlo International Circus Festival, Shub is also a renowned trainer across Europe. He runs his famous clown workshop, where he explores comedy, humanity, improvisation and stage rhythm as essential tools of the theatrical art.

They are celebrated by deciding which stories still need to be told. With El último presidente, Teatro La República does not commemorate an anniversary: it settles a debt. A debt to democratic memory, to the complexity of our history, and to a figure, Don Juan Negrín López, who has been systematically minimized, distorted, or silenced. From its beginnings, the company has understood theater as a space for debate in the deepest sense of the term: a place where the past dialogues with the present and demands the audience to take a stand. Bringing Negrín — last president of the Second Spanish Republic — to the stage is not a nostalgic gesture nor a comfy revisionist exercise. It is an uncomfortable decision. And precisely for that reason, it is necessary. The play does not aim to explain history, but to make it resonate. It offers neither a tidy nor soothing biography, but an immersion into the mind of a man trapped between extreme responsibility and exile, between scientific reason and the brutality of political collapse. In that fragmented, almost broken space, Negrín appears not as a statue, but as a dilemma: the misunderstood leader, the intellectual compelled to decide when every decision entails an irreparable loss. Because the past does not go away. It stays, it transforms, it returns. The shadows of exile, defeat, and forgetting continue to project onto our present. We live in times of noise, quick slogans, and simplified narratives, where complexity is uncomfortable and doubt is seen as weakness. In this context, El último presidente stands as an act of cultural resistance. Against oblivion, memory. Against polarization, thought. Against simplism, nuance. Theater, when it takes responsibility, does not indoctrinate: it unsettles. It does not provide closed answers: it raises questions. What does democracy mean today? What price does commitment have? What do we do, as a society, with those who defended reason when reason seemed lost? El último presidente is not just a play about Negrín. It is a warning. And also an invitation. To look at history without fear, to embrace its contradictions, and to understand that memory is not a luxury of the past, but an indispensable tool for the present. With only a Spanish guitar for accompaniment and a minimalist musical approach that prioritizes the emotion of the word, José Félix guides us through the stories that Lisbon’s songs keep within them, as we witness the ritual of introspection necessary for fado to emerge in its most genuine and unembellished form.

Pasión Vega will be performing at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna on the 11th of October as part of the Mar Abierto Festival programme, Pasión por Almodóvar.

The artist will reinterpret some of the most iconic songs from Pedro Almodóvar’s films, including Volver, Piensa en mí, Un año de amor and Cucurrucucú paloma. Accompanied by pianist and musical director Moisés P. Sánchez and an ensemble of musicians, Pasión Vega takes the audience on an emotional journey through music and film.

The Queen Forever Tribute show comes to the Paraninfo at the University of La Laguna on the 17th of October, paying tribute to one of the most iconic bands in rock history. The tribute band takes the audience on a journey through Queen’s most famous anthems, recreating the vocals, stage presence, costumes and energy of their legendary performances, from Live Aid to Wembley ’86.

Orfeo y Euridice: A journey to say goodbye is a puppet work inspired by the classical myth that offers an exciting adventure about friendship, loss, and the ability to transform the pain of grief into learning. The story follows Orfeo, a young musician who builds a deep bond with Eurí­dice, a blue macaw escaped from the zoo whose greatest wish is to return to Brazil, his homeland. Together they embark on a journey full of discoveries, until an unexpected accident ends the life of the bird. Through a visual and poetic language of the puppet theatre, the piece combines live music, plastic images and a narrative accessible to child audiences, without sacrificing a deep reading for adults, offering a sensitive, emotional and imaginative stage experience.
